"Jean couldn't have been more helpful when we moved into our house just before Christmas several years ago. She and her team helped us to sort out fabrics for curtains, blinds and cushions, and before we knew it the house was done! Everything was perfect, and beautifully made. Since then we have used her for other smaller projects, and she is always very willing to go out of her way to help. We can't recommend her more highly.'
Having moved house several times in recent years, we have been fortunate to be able to rely on the Norfolk House Company. Jean Gardner has always helped with our previous house moves, providing expert guidance on choice of soft furnishings. The curtains and cushions are of excellent quality, as is her flair for fabric and colour. Her attention to detail is outstanding. Whatever problem is put her way, she manages to solve it. Our current house has some pentagonal and triangular windows, which we thought would be very difficult to curtain, but Jean has provided some beautiful curtains for those.
She has the ability to turn a house into a home that anyone would be proud of.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Norfolk House Company unreservedly to anyone who is looking to make their home a special one.
I was recommended to Norfolk House Company by one of their former clients – the owners of an exquisitely furnished and historic B&B in North Norfolk. As a frequent guest during the course of my own property development, I was always impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of the curtains and blinds – it was evident that a lot of expertise and thought had gone into these.
My own property incorporates a unique industrial building into a newly built extension – and took a lot of time and effort to realise. I was very concerned that we would not lose the character of the original structure when we made decisions about interior decoration.
In our first site-meeting I was extremely impressed with how quickly Jean Gardiner assimilated the building and understood what we needed to achieve – both in terms of style and (equally importantly) budget. We have worked on the building together over many months and she is has helped us turn a blank canvas into a very special home.
I would consider myself a perfectionist and have some very clearly defined ‘likes’ and ‘dislikes’ when it comes to design. However Jean (and her team of makers and fitters) is also a perfectionist and certainly helped me push the boundaries when it came to selecting fabrics and styles. I am delighted with the end result and, because we had such a thorough dialogue, have no regrets about any of the choices we made (and there were quite a few!).
The interior now reflects the character of the building – 100% bespoke! Equally importantly we worked within a realistic budget – and, whilst you get what you pay for, I know for a fact that we would not have paid significantly less had we engaged a larger department store. The end product is vastly better however – and I speak from experience!
One of our largest projects, the stunning Old Barn, displays some beautiful lengths of our hand sewn curtains, matching plush cushions and unique bespoke blinds. Our consultant spent time with the client discussing interior ideas, colour schemes and giving style advice.
The Roman Blinds tie in beautifully with the personality of this home and their unusual lengthened design allows for the fabric to give a wall hanging effect over alcove windows. Bolster cushions were created with delicate beaded trimming to heighten the colour scheme in this room.
Cotton and linen mixes fit perfectly into the style of our clients home, full of country character and homely atmosphere. We created an abundance of large feather filled cushions to sit comfortably on our clients existing sofas, chairs and bedroom furniture, bringing the rooms cosily together.
We fitted one of the windows with a Silent Gliss speciality discreet track to increase functionality & the colour was sourced to match seamlessly against the frame. The poles were selected to blend with the timbers & stonework and also flatter and support the fabrics used. You can find out more about the extensive collection of poles we offer in our tracks and poles section.
At this delightful cottage just off the coast, we had the pleasure of giving styling/textiles advice & creating a range of beautiful blinds, drapes and coverings for our clients.
Charming Roman Blinds were created for the kitchen, the fabric by Parkertex from one of our coastal themed collections, looks stunning against the blue tiles and the back drop of the flint just outside the window, suiting this seaside property perfectly. Roman Blinds enhanced the style of the bathroom and also linked with the elegant neutral theme of the house. The client has complemented the blinds by adding accessories of similar colour.
Antique chairs were recovered for the client in the same fabric as their dining room curtains. The co-ordination of this neutral colour allows for the chair to be placed gracefully anywhere within, and outside, our clients home.
The cushions we created were designed to tie together with the window dressings we produced, which create a stylish yet subtle statement.
In this character property we fitted curtains blinds, poles and styled soft furnishings in several rooms.
The stunning window was transformed into seating by the making of bespoke durable foam padding with a piped washable cover. We also provided a made to measure wrought iron pole to ensure that the curtains pulled smoothly around the bay.
The clients skylight window required a Velux blind which would co-ordinate with their Parkertex Roman Blinds on the same mezzanine floor. This simple blind fits seamlessly with the rest of the décor in this space.
The roman blind and full length curtain in the bedroom are made from one of our contemporary ranges by Swatchbox with subtle chocolate and duck egg accents.
The Masters House is an award winning building which was a pleasure to work on.
Liaising closely with our clients who live in London & following many consultations we set out a scheme for the entire property.
This project included dressing large full length windows with sumptuous full length, interlined, hand embroidered linen curtains, a vibrant Beachcomber range patchwork roman blind for the bathroom and further roman blind in warm terracotta tones to compliment the Moroccan accessories by Berber. We also dressed a landing window with linen look soft cotton by Swaffer & many rooms were accessorised with an abundance of our studio designed hand made cushions.
Bespoke wrought iron poles were designed & fitted especially to suit our clients large windows, these ensured perfect functionality of the large heavy curtain widths.

One of the most striking creations are the hand sewn drapes in `Lighthouse design` from our Ocean collection.
